The National Day of Mourning- April 28th

Every year on April 28 we pay our respects to, and remember, the thousands of workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents.

By working together – with employers, workers, engineers and health and safety partners we can prevent worker injuries and deaths before they occur.
Every worker has the right to return home safe and sound at the end of each workday. Until April 28th, In order to keep you, safe CivilTech will be posting some of the essential safety facts all workers need to know. Stay with us for our future posts in this regards.

WHMIS is a short form for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It is a comprehensive plan for providing information on the safe use of hazardous materials used in Canadian workplaces. Information is provided by means of product labels, material safety data sheets (MSDS) and worker education programs.

The WHMIS label is one of the ways used to convey hazard information to users of the product. WHMIS law requires labels for hazardous products.

Canada has aligned the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)

Standardized pictograms, which immediately show the user of a hazardous product what type of hazard is present, will be on the supplier labels and safety data sheets (as the symbol or name of the symbol).
